Oneida Astrid 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Glad these were available.
Purchased as a gift. They said it was as good as the original place settings I had bought from Oneida several years ago.

Oneida Act I 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Oneida Act 1
Fell in love with this silverware many years ago but at the time could only afford a couple place settings. After using this for about 15 years I was looking at the few pieces I have and realized what great shape they are in, they are still very shiney and look so much better than all my other pieces that are much newer. I was so excited to find that tis pattern was still available, and at a good price that I ordered 10 place settings.

Great design - we use ours every day!
When I got married 10+ years ago.. I registered for this pattern, but only received the hostess set and 3 place settings. Over the years - other silverware has come and gone... but my husband and I still rush to get the "good forks" every night.

In a nutshell, this set is stylish, has a great heavy feel, sturdy and holds up with regular use - plus it has a lifetime guarantee. The forks and spoons aren't too large - (I tend to like smaller silverware). I would recommend it to everyone - and Amazon has a great price. It's listed as $88 at my local department store. Buy some and enjoy!

Very comfortable to use!
In addition to comments others have made, I would also point out that this tableware is very comfortable to use. (I hate silverware that is thin, with sharp edges._ We have had our set for almost 35 years, and are purchasing a couple more place settings. Act ii is still being made, and is identical except for having a greater shine to it.

Reed & Barton 18th Century Sterling Silver 4-Piece Flatware Place Set

I love this style.
I have 12 place settings, love this graceful style, it will always be one of my favorites. They're not and heavy as some of the vintage styles but have a lovely finish to them.

Oneida Chateau 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Didn't match our 30-year old sets
After 30 years of use, our 68-piece set had become a 57-or-so piece set, so we ordered 5 place settings to replace the pieces which had gone missing (less expensive than ordering individual pieces). The new settings are quite different than our originals, differing in color, weight, backstamping, and (in the case of the dinner knives) construction. Correspondence with Oneida confirmed that they are probably genuine Oneida pieces. However, they're now made in Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia or China, so I suspect they have quality control issues. Oneida suggested I might return them if I was unsatisfied (which I am), but then I'd be back at square one, missing pieces. My solution is to serve more drinks before dinner, and lower the lighting in the dining room.

more accurate description
I bought some of these pieces individually... Chateau salad forks and teaspoons...but they had been described on Amazon as being 18/10 stainless steel. I was disappointed that they were not as heavy as I expected. I see in this full place setting that they are described as 18/8, which is what I suspected after I received them. If I had known that, I'm not sure if I would have purchased them or not, but since they are described correctly here, I don't see why anyone would be disappointed in them.

Flatware
Oneida Chateau used to be a fairly popular flatware pattern a few years back, but can't be located in many of the usual department stores at present. It is not too frilly, not too austere, and as Goldilocks indicated "just right"!

Lenox Eternal Gold Flatware 5-Piece Place Settting, Service for 1

Not so Eternal Gold
Bought this flatware for special occasions only. It's beautiful and heavy, but just after a few uses the gold started rubbing off. I was extremely careful and hand washed only but the gold still came off. I can guarantee you that all other reviewers have had this experience by now. I do not recommend the Lenox Eternal Gold flatware, for this reason only.

beautiful!
This is a beautiful, traditional set of flatware that will go with just about any place setting. Hand wash, however, and dry right away or you will get spots on them.

Eternal Gold
I just love this place setting. Looks so nice on the dining table.

Oneida Marquette 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

great value
I have been buying this set one place setting at a time over the past few years. The pieces retain a brilliant shine and are easy to care for. This is one of the bets prices I've ever seen, including department store discounts and offers directly from Oneida.

Beautiful Stainless Steel Flatware
After using my previous stainless steel flatware for more than 30 years, I decided it was time for a change. This flatware is everything I hoped it would be. Beautiful, versatile and practical. I did follow the manufacturer's directions and changed my dishwasher powder from lemon-based to regular to avoid spotting and discoloration, but if I follow the manufacturer's instructions, this flatware should look good for many years to come.

As icing on the cake, so to speak, I hunted around (both at stores and online) to get the best price for this beautiful flatware. I found the best price on Amazon.com.

Keeps on lick'n
I ordered two place settings to supplement the settings my wife and I received 25 years ago as wedding gifts. I was not sure that the new settings would exactly match what we had. Amazingly, they matched exactly except for the new shine. Twenty-five years and 6 kids later our everyday old place settings have been going strong without any sign of wear and tear. The new settings look and feel that they can also go the distance as well. I highly recommend these Oneida products.

Gorham Fairfax 4-Piece Sterling Silver Flatware Place Set, Service for 1

JustJenna
This silverware was in my Grandmother's house (my Mom has it now), and we used it almost every Sunday. Which meant the minimal place settings (fork, spoon, knife) had to be hand-washed, dried, polished, and laid back in their special case after each evening meal. And of course, on holidays, the entire contents of the silverware case was let out, serving pieces and all, polished, washed and dried, and complete place settings put upon the table - by me and my younger brother (yes!) and sister. For whatever else true silverware might be worth, that family participation was well worth it. I learned to treasure every piece.

With this pattern you cannot go wrong. It's elegant, simple, easy to use and maintain, but at the same time gives you that connection with history. It works with just about any table setting that's not just unabashedly casual. jenna

WMF Taika 5-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 1

A Contemporary and very stylish looking high quality flatware
I got this set to compliment another modern looking flatware set "iittala Artik Flatware" which I thought is the best looking flatware out there for it's build quality and style. When we got this set from amazon I was surprised as it almost looked similar to iittala Artik set. WMF Taika set had more contemporary style and it looked as if the Artik set has been elongated on top and bottom to make it long. Very long!

The handles on this set are long, very long unlike anything we expect from flatware. They are almost as long as the chop-sticks we get in chinese restaurants. The long handles make it look very elegant. Inspite of the long handles, the weight of the flatware is comfortable to hold for long time. The stainless steel looks very vibrant and attractive like the one we see in Pro-style kitchen appliances.

If you prefer your flatware to be somewhere between very contemporary to some what traditional in style, iittala's Artik set is a better choice. iittala...

The most outstanding WMF design in years
If you like the "form follows function" idea of modern design, this is the silverware for you. Wonderfully clean lines, no unnecessary details. Just outright gorgeous in it's simplicity. Goes without saying that the quality of the manufacturing is true WMF - perfect.

More Appropriate for a Family with Small Children
I bought this silverware on a whim for $180 because I liked the design and shine. Although I like it, I wouldn't pay anymore than that for it.

The shine is only slightly brighter than my regular silverware and the design might be a bit too modern for the tastes of some of my family members.

The surprise, however, was the size of the smaller knives, forks, and spoons. I have three toddler grandchildren for whom the small size will be perfect. You can see the size difference in the photo I uploaded.

Addendum 4/2012

Surprisingly, my 10 year old grandson also loves the smaller sized utensils. I wish they sold that size separately.
